ABOUT THE WOOD
Parawood also known as rubberwood is a hardwood tree native to South America. Discovered by the early American explorers, the parawood tree spends the first 30 years of it's life being tapped for it's sap - like the maple tree. The sap from the parawood tree is latex and it's processed into rubber - which is why it's called rubberwood. When the tree stops producing sap it is cut down and used for furniture making. It's popularity has grown over the years because of it's cost, sustainability and density. It makes great furniture. Parawood furniture if properly cared for, will last a lifetime.
